HHA Program Instructor

About the Role
Carepoint Home Health is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Instructor. This is a hybrid role: theory training is delivered online through Relias, which you will monitor for student progress, and hands-on skills training is conducted in person at our Edison, NJ facility. You will also coordinate with the Board of Nursing (BON) on new training batch submissions.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and track student progress through online theory coursework on Relias
- Conduct and supervise in-person practical/skills lab training at our facility
- Teach core competencies including personal care, vital signs, infection control, safety procedures, and basic patient care techniques
- Demonstrate hands-on skills, providing feedback and correction during practical sessions
- Administer and grade practical skills exams in accordance with state HHA certification requirements
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and training documentation
- Coordinate with the Board of Nursing (BON) regarding submission and approval of new training batches
- Ensure the training program remains compliant with state and federal HHA training regulations
- Provide BLS instruction and certification to students
- Create a supportive, professional learning environment for adult learners
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Current BLS Instructor certification
- Prior experience teaching or training Home Health Aides (required)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Comfortable monitoring online coursework/LMS platforms (Relias experience a plus)
- Ability to work in-person at our Edison, NJ facility for practical training sessions
- Flexible availability to accommodate varying training schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Relias or similar learning management systems
- Prior experience coordinating with the Board of Nursing (BON) on training program submissions
- Familiarity with NJ state HHA training and certification requirements
Schedule
Flexible, hybrid schedule — online theory monitoring plus in-person practical sessions, which may be scheduled on weekdays, evenings, or weekends based on program needs.
