Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including health insurance knowledge and Medicare procedures
- Manage patient intake forms, documentation review, and data entry with high attention to detail
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Process payments, perform medical collection tasks, and assist with billing using Meditech or Epic EMR systems
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with insurance verification, claims submission, and follow-up on unpaid accounts
- Support office management tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure accurate documentation of procedures using CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes
Experience
- Prior dental office experience or clinic experience is highly preferred
- Proven background in medical billing, coding (ICD coding), and insurance verification
- Familiarity with dental terminology and healthcare software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) management systems
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated clerical experience supporting busy front desk operations in healthcare settings
