G.L. Williams & Daughter Trucking is looking for a dependable, experienced operator for our pit and material operations.
This is not a one-machine, sit-and-wait position. We need someone who understands production work, can read what is happening around them, and knows how to keep material moving safely and efficiently.
The right person will be comfortable working around trucks, customers, piles, berms, screening operations, and changing site priorities throughout the day.
About the Work
Our operators help keep active material sites organized, productive, and safe. Daily work may include loading trucks, moving and managing material, supporting screening operations, maintaining access areas, building berms, and helping with general site needs.
You may operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, tractors, pans, and screening-related equipment depending on the day and location. We are looking for someone with enough experience to switch between tasks without needing to be walked through every step.
What You’ll Do
- Load pickups, trailers, dump trucks, and other vehicles with the correct material
- Move, stack, turn, and manage material as needed throughout the different sites
- Operate equipment safely around coworkers, customers, and truck traffic
- Help keep pit areas, stockpiles, berms, and travel paths organized
- Support screening and material-processing work
- Complete daily machine checks, including fluids, grease, and basic inspection items
- Communicate equipment issues, safety concerns, or site problems
- Adjust to changing priorities during the day
- Help outside the cab when needed
What We Need From You
- At least 5 years of solid heavy equipment operating experience
- Experience in pit work, mining, construction, grading, material yards, or similar production environments
- Confidence operating more than one type of machine
- Good judgment around equipment, people, customers, and trucks
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Dependable attendance and a ready-to-work attitude
- Willingness to take direction and work as part of a team
- Respect for equipment and company property
This Job Is a Good Fit If You
- Notice what needs to be done next
- Take pride in keeping equipment in good shape
- Can stay productive without being micromanaged
- Understand that production work changes throughout the day
- Are willing to help the crew, not just sit in the cab
- Can work professionally around customers and coworkers
