NovinoPath Diagnostics is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our growing team in Bayside, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a career in laboratory medicine while working alongside experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Pathologists in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory.
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting daily laboratory operations and ensuring the accurate processing of patient specimens that directly impact patient care. You will gain valuable experience in pathology and molecular diagnostics while working in a collaborative, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, accession, and process patient specimens for laboratory testing
- Verify specimen integrity and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Perform specimen processing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, measuring specimen volumes, and preparing samples for testing
- Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Assign and route laboratory cases to the appropriate personnel
- Prepare and organize specimens for reference laboratory testing and pathology consultations
- Maintain laboratory records, quality control logs, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and laboratory standards
- Monitor laboratory inventory, stock supplies, and assist with ordering before depletion
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Support laboratory staff with daily operational activities and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a life science or related field preferred
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to follow established procedures accurately and consistently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Experience with laboratory operations or laboratory information systems is a plus
- Bilingual (English/Chinese) is preferred but not required
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn
