Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an instructional teacher, working with a spirited group of Kindergarten and 1st-grade students in a self-contained classroom. Beginning August 19th, your day will run from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, providing a consistent and supportive routine that helps your students thrive. This role is located near Arlington Heights, IL, and focuses on a small group of approximately six students, primarily with low-incidence disabilities—many of whom use AAC devices to communicate.
You’ll deliver engaging, customized instruction and champion assistive technology for learners who benefit from creative teaching approaches and compassionate support.
What We’re Looking For:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement required
- Special education teaching experience (preferably with K-1st age group)
- Familiarity with instructional strategies for self-contained classrooms
- Background in using and supporting assistive technology and AAC
- Strong collaboration skills with service providers, families, and other staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to meet each student’s needs
- Integrate assistive technology and AAC into daily instruction
- Maintain clear and positive communication with families and team members
- Track student progress and contribute to IEPs
- Support social, emotional, and academic growth in every child
