Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform care plans.
- Administer medications, injections, IV insertions, and other treatments following established protocols and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately for documentation of patient care activities.
- Respond swiftly to medical emergencies with appropriate interventions such as CPR, AED operation, and acute care procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment options, medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in accordance with State Board of Nursing requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma center environments is highly desirable.
- Proven background in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care settings such as ICU or PICU.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology essential for accurate patient assessment and medication management.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for efficient medical documentation and record keeping.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, CPR, AED operation, and IV insertion techniques required; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are a plus.
- Knowledge of health regulations compliance including HIPAA standards and nursing policy adherence.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, urgent care centers, or school clinics is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective parent interactions in pediatric or school settings; ability to perform venipuncture and manage medical emergencies confidently.
