Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Operator, Lugs/Floater, to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and tending machines that shape and form products such as battery lugs.
Responsibilities
- Operates pressing machines to shape or form battery lug terminals.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures.
- Removes finished items from machine and separate rejected items.
- Loads machine with raw material and cycles the machine to make finished items.
- Observes continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
- Tests and adjusts machine functions according to product specifications and using gauges and hand tools.
- Cleans and lubricates machines
- Measures and visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects in order to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Notifies team leader of any deficiencies in production or material handling equipment
- Maintains production records, and other documents related to training, production, and quality
- Assembles, installs, and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, machinery and equipment
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using cranes, hand tools, and power tools
- May help in other departments as needed
Physical Demands
- Medium work with lifting and/or moving objects up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.
- Ability to hear and speak.
- Good visual acuity includes depth perception, color discrimination, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to reach, handle, finger.
- Frequent crouching, stooping, or bending.
Work Environment
- Work around moving machinery and equipment.
- Repetitive use of hands/arms.
- Frequent Interruptions.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, dust, and/or poor ventilation.
- Frequently working in proximity to moving, mechanical parts.
Competences
- Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply common sense understanding to carry out multi-step but straightforward instructions. Frequent decisions, often involve initiative in identifying problems and potential solutions.
- Communication- Read material such as detailed forms, standard memos or letters
- Mathematical Skills- Calculation of percentages, ratios, or averages.
- Record Keeping- Enter, check, and verify data. Write material such as standard memos, letters, or detailed forms.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required or GED.
- 1-2 years of directly related experience.
