The Embassy of Japan’s security section is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of security staff. The Embassy of Japan is an equal opportunity employer. The Security Section is tasked with monitoring and securing everyday diplomatic affairs as well as the 24/7 support of Embassy operations to ensure the safety and security of Embassy personnel, visitors, and facilities. Required Qualifications
· Authorization to work in the U.S.
· Fluent in English
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university in any field related to the position
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Effective case management and investigation skills
· Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
· Ability to work overtime as directed by the needs of the Embassy
· Ability to follow instructions from a supervisor
· Ability to sit, stand, patrol, and conduct interior and exterior checks during assigned shifts.
· Ability to maintain attention and situational awareness and exercise sound judgment, including during overnight shifts
Ideal Candidates
· Interested in Japanese culture or international relations or working in the security field or fields related to government
· Able to speak Japanese
· Work experience in a security, facilities, government, or administrative role is preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Controlling access to Embassy facilities and verifying credentials in accordance with established procedures.
- Conducting foot patrols and security checks of designated areas.
- Monitoring and using CCTV, alarm systems, access-control systems, and other security-related systems.
- Responding appropriately to alarms, emergencies, access-control issues, and other security incidents by following established emergency-response procedures.
- Preparing reports, logs, records, and other paperwork related to the Security Section.
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, Embassy personnel, visitors, contractors, and, when appropriate, law enforcement or emergency personnel.
- Performing related duties assigned by the supervisor.
*No prior security experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
Working Hours
Working hours are variable and include nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Basic working hours per week:
35 hours (with overtime as needed)
· Basic Working hours of each shift
Day shift: 7 hours
Night shift: 14 hours (approximately 1-2 night shifts required per week )
· Days off per week:2 days per week
Compensation
The monthly base pay range for this position is $3,400 –$5,200.
*Pay is commensurate with experience
