Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic PRN mobile DOT specimen collector to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for conducting drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing at various mobile sites. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a positive impact on safety and compliance standards across multiple locations. As a PRN (as-needed) mobile collector, you will work independently, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to support our clients' testing programs.
Responsibilities
- Perform DOT-mandated specimen collection procedures in accordance with federal regulations, including urine and oral fluid testing.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and documentation of specimens to maintain chain-of-custody integrity.
- Operate mobile collection units efficiently across different locations, adhering to safety protocols and scheduling requirements.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of laboratory management practices, specimen processing techniques, and laboratory procedures relevant to drug testing.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during specimen collection to prevent contamination or adulteration.
- Communicate clearly with donors about collection procedures, confidentiality policies, and safety measures.
- Complete accurate documentation of each collection event, including detailed reports on specimen handling and any anomalies observed.
- Adhere to all applicable medical terminology standards, anatomy knowledge, and physiology principles during specimen collection processes.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of collection equipment while complying with infection control protocols.
Experience
- Prior clinical laboratory experience or research laboratory experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of laboratory management systems, specimen processing workflows, and adherence to regulatory standards enhances success in this role.
