Job Title: Transportation Manager / School Bus Route Manager
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Split Shift (5:30 AM – 9:30 AM & 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and experienced School Bus Transportation Manager to lead our driving team and oversee daily operations.
As the first point of contact each morning, you will arrive 30 minutes before driver check-ins to open the facility, manage early morning call-offs, coordinate route coverage, and support drivers as they prepare for their routes. This role requires a dependable leader with at least 4 years of school bus driving experience, proven leadership skills, and strong communication abilities to keep both drivers and office staff synchronized.
Key Responsibilities & Daily DutiesMorning Operations (5:30 AM – 9:30 AM)
- Early Readiness & Coverage: Open the facility, manage call-offs, assign substitute drivers, or step in to drive a route in emergency situations.
- Dispatch & Phone Support: Answer incoming phone calls from drivers, parents, and school administrators; assist with dispatching and real-time route troubleshooting.
- Office & Driver Communication: Maintain constant, clear communication with office staff and school leadership regarding schedule adjustments, delays, or issues.
- Driver Support: Assist drivers with pre-trip inspection questions, safety protocols, and morning check-ins.
Afternoon Operations (1:30 PM – 5:30 PM)
- Driver Training & Mentorship: Conduct safety training, onboarding for new hires, and regular skill evaluations for current drivers.
- Mid-Day Administration: Oversee driver scheduling, review route efficiency, maintain compliance logs, and handle paperwork.
- Afternoon Dismissal Oversight: Coordinate afternoon bus check-ins, manage phone and dispatch coverage during student drop-offs, and handle late-day emergencies.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Bus Driving Experience: Minimum 4+ years of professional school bus driving experience with an active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a team.
- Dispatch & Phone Skills: Experience answering high-volume phone calls, managing dispatch communication, and handling stressful situations calmly.
- Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to keep drivers, office staff, parents, and school leadership informed.
- Reliability: Exceptional attendance, punctuality, and responsibility as a key-holder opening the facility each morning.
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
