Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Fire Watch Officer to ensure the safety and compliance of our facilities with fire safety regulations. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for monitoring construction sites, inspecting fire prevention systems, and enforcing fire codes to prevent hazards. Your expertise in fire safety protocols, system design, and emergency procedures will be vital in maintaining a secure environment for all personnel and property. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding our infrastructure while applying your knowledge of building codes, fire alarm systems, and public safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct continuous fire watch patrols at construction sites and facilities to identify potential fire hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Inspect sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and other life safety equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with NFPA standards and IFC regulations.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection during hazardous activities involving Hazmat materials or fire apparatus operation.
- Perform building code analysis and construction inspection tasks to ensure compliance with local building codes, fire codes, and international standards.
- Educate personnel on fire prevention practices, emergency response procedures, and public safety education initiatives.
- Document all inspections, observations, and incidents accurately through detailed reports and logs.
- Assist in alarm system sales or upgrades by providing technical insights into fire sprinkler fitting, alarm system integration, and system design.
Experience
- Proven experience in security operations with a focus on fire safety or related fields such as construction inspection or building code compliance.
- Supervising experience overseeing safety teams or fire watch personnel is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards, IFC compliance requirements, and life safety building codes is essential.
- Hands-on experience operating fire apparatus and understanding sprinkler systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools for report writing and record keeping.
- Strong understanding of emergency response procedures, hazard mitigation, and public safety education techniques.
- Certification or training in Hazmat handling, fire alarm systems, or firefighting is advantageous.
