We are seeking an experienced and caring Physical Therapist (PT) to join our growing clinic. This individual will administer treatments to our patients with their rehabilitation workouts, activities and or treatments as and provide educational information about physical therapy, physical therapists, injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote health. He or she would act as our patients partner and advocate on their road to recovery, from diagnosis to the completion of rehabilitation. Patient quality of life, range of motion, and overall safety should be the sole focus of any candidate applying for this position.

Physical Therapist Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with patients and identify needs and goals
- Devise detailed treatment plans to achieve needs and goals
- Exercise personal judgment (i.e., make modifications as needed) during treatment execution to ensure patient safety and continued progress
- Motivate and encourage patients throughout treatment process
- Devise detailed exercise techniques, stretches, and self-care programs for patients to complete between sessions
- Evaluate effects of therapy and keep detailed records of patient appointments and progress
- Communicate with patients physicians regularly to ensure consistent care
- Reduce patients need for medications and surgeries by improving range of motion, strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance
- Comply with federal and state physical therapy regulations
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Refer clients to community resources and services if and when needed
- Document an initial exam, evaluating the data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention
- Will need to evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Administer manual exercise, massage, whirlpool, and/or traction to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength, and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling
- Administer treatment involving application of physical agents, using equipment, moist packs, cold packs, electrical stimulation, phonophoresis and ultrasound
- Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modification to orthoptist
- Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home and confer with the patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan implement and assess the intervention program
- Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine diagnosis and physical therapy treatment required
- Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patients chart or enter information into computer, this is REQUIRED
- Obtain patient's informed consent to proposed interventions
- Test and measure patient's strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and record data as per evaluation
- Identify and document goals, anticipated progress and plans for re-evaluation as well as provide information to the patient about proposed intervention; its material risks ad expected benefits and any reasonable alternatives
- Inform the patient when diagnosis reveals findings outside their scope and refer to an appropriate practitioner
- Discharge patients from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals
- Will be in charge of directing and supervising supportive personnel, assessing their competence, delegating specific tasks to them and establishing channels of communication
- Teach physical therapy students as well as those in other health professions, participate in community and community agency activities and help formulate public policy and direct group rehabilitation activities
- Conduct and support research and apply research findings to practice
- Construct, maintain and repair medical supportive devices and carry out and other delegated tasks made by the head physical therapist or office manager for efficient function of the physical therapy clinic
- Comply with all safety, HIPPA and OSHA policy and procedures as well as Valley Rehabilitation policies and procedures as indicated in the policies and procedures manual for Valley Rehabilitation of Sun City West
Physical Therapist Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven work ethic and dedication to patient care throughout the recovery process
- Ability to communicate and adapt to different patients and personalities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A high level of professionalism and personal ethics
- Extensive education in the field of physical therapy as well as clinical experience
- A thorough knowledge of current treatment practices
- A valid license to practice physical therapy
- Demonstrate skills to work in and foster a team environment
- Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate in an outpatient Physical Therapy clinic with patients, families, and office staff
- The ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems, plan, implement therapist request, and follow direction of therapist or office manager is also needed
- CPR and first aid certification a plus
