Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Clinical Services Director to lead our behavioral health and mental health program. In this pivotal role, you will oversee clinical operations, supervise multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. Your leadership will drive program excellence, foster a collaborative environment, and promote best practices in clinical supervision and patient engagement.
Key Requirements
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related clinical field (required)
Active, unrestricted California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in good standing (required) and must meet California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) supervisor qualifications, including at least 2 of the last 5 years holding an active license and 2 of the last 5 years in psychotherapy practice or supervision. LCSW specifically is required because BBS rules mandate that at least 1,700 of the 3,000 supervised hours (and 13 of 52 supervision weeks) toward LCSW licensure for our ASWs/MSW interns be supervised by an LCSW
2 years of progressive clinical supervision experience within behavioral health or mental health settings
Extensive knowledge of mental health conditions, substance use disorders, PTSD, and neurodevelopmental and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum conditions
Strong background in intake assessment, diagnostic evaluation, case management, and client-centered therapy approaches, including individual psychotherapy
Skilled in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques for mental health emergencies
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems and HIPAA-compliant documentation practices
Experience serving culturally diverse populations in community-based or home-based care environments
Excellent leadership skills to manage clinical teams and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary staff
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Program Oversight
Provide strategic clinical leadership and oversight for mental health and case management services at Pathway Home and additional interim housing sites
Oversee clinical service delivery, including intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations (ICD-10-CM), individual and group counseling sessions, and family support
Implement evidence-based interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction to support long-term housing stability for diverse populations, including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those with co-occurring disorders
Develop and oversee crisis intervention strategies and lead staff training on de-escalation techniques
Supervision & Staff Development
Provide BBS-compliant clinical supervision, as the licensed LCSW of record, for MSW interns and Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASWs) working toward LCSW licensure, in accordance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements
Supervise clinical staff to ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and EMR/EHR management
Lead weekly case consultation meetings and facilitate ongoing professional development for clinical staff
Implement training programs for case managers on clinical best practices, medical terminology, cultural competence, and ethical standards
Conduct performance evaluations and promote a positive, collaborative clinical team environment
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure all clinical services adhere to state and federal regulations, HIPAA privacy rules, and funder requirements
Maintain accurate documentation, conduct regular chart reviews, and uphold client confidentiality
Support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Community Engagement & Collaboration
Build and maintain partnerships with universities for MSW intern placements
Collaborate with local healthcare providers, mental health agencies, and Service partners to expand client resources
Represent Whittier First Day at professional meetings and community outreach initiatives

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
