L’Arche Greater Washington, D.C. is an inter-denominational Christian community of people with and without intellectual disabilities who share their lives together. L’Arche is seeking a registered licensed practical nurse licensed in Arlington V A to monitor the health care of the core people and provide oversight of nursing services in two homes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with people who have intellectual disabilities and familiarity with residential service providers. A successful candidatewould be detail oriented, have a passion for community-based care, and be able to provide oversight in a professional and personable manner.
Qualifications
● Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia., with current CPR and health certificate.
● Familiarity with, or ability to learn regulations as related to people with intellectual disabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee Healthcare for Core People
● Collaborate with assistants, providers, pharmacists, and families to address medical needs; Complete health assessments and ensure follow-up on all health-related referral
● Maintain up-to-date medical records, including visit summaries, labs, referrals, and protocols
● Observe one routine per week and provide feedback on medical care and practices
● Attend medical appointments, and service meetings as needed.
● Respond to nursing notifications on a rotating schedule to provide nursing insight
Medication Management and Medication Administration Program
● Oversee medication changes in EMAR system
● Manage monthly medication changes and review MARs/POS for accuracy
● Ensure DSPs administers medications as appropriate.
Training for Assistants
● Train new assistants, annually and as needed, in delegated nursing tasks, Health Passports, and medical protocols
● Contribute to the development and implementation of care protocols (falls, meals, seizures, etc.)
Professional Training and Quality Assurance Coordination
● Collaborate with leadership on staffing needs and adjustments
● Work with the Quality Improvement team to enhance medical care systems and policies
Other duties as assigned.
