Career Links is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and create an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success.
Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering specialized instruction to students with disabilities, monitoring student progress, maintaining compliance with special education regulations, and collaborating with general education staff, families, and related service providers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Provide specialized instruction aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).

Assess student performance and maintain accurate educational records.
-
Collect and analyze data to measure student progress toward IEP goals.

Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and differentiated instruction.
-
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and parent conferences.

Implement classroom management and behavioral intervention strategies.

Maintain compliance with IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and state special education regulations.

Work collaboratively with administrators, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other related service providers.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.

Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Valid Georgia educator certification in one of the following:
-
Special Education General Curriculum (P-12)
-
Special Education General Curriculum/Elementary Education (P-5)
-
Other applicable Georgia Special Education certification areas based on assignment.

Eligibility for certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

Ability to obtain and maintain required background clearances and employment eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.

Previous school-based special education experience.

Experience working with diverse student populations and varying disability categories.

Knowledge of assistive technology, behavior intervention plans, and progress monitoring systems.
Georgia Certification Requirements
Qualified candidates should meet Georgia certification requirements, which generally include:

Completion of a state-approved educator preparation program.

Passing applicable Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) requirements.

Meeting Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification standards and conduct requirements.
