Overview
The Automotive Shop Foreman oversees daily shop operations while serving as the lead diagnostic authority. This role requires advanced knowledge of systematic troubleshooting, professional-grade diagnostic equipment, and extensive experience in mechanical engine repair. Although we are seeking a candidate with many years of experience we understand that if you can display the applicable skills with "less formal training" or education, please apply! We have a newly built service center with brand new bays, diagnostic, calibration, tire, alignment machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise technicians in daily repair and maintenance operations
- Serve as the primary diagnostic specialist for complex drivability, electrical, and mechanical engine concerns
- Apply a structured diagnostic process (verify concern, scan, test, analyze data, confirm repair)
- Operate and interpret data from professional diagnostic tools (OEM scan tools, bi-directional scanners, oscilloscopes, multimeters, smoke machines, etc.)
- Perform advanced engine diagnostics including compression testing, leak-down testing, timing verification, and fuel/ignition system analysis
- Troubleshoot CAN bus communication faults and advanced electronic control systems
- Review repair orders to ensure accurate problem identification before parts replacement
- Mentor technicians on proper diagnostic workflow to prevent misdiagnosis and unnecessary parts replacement
- Verify completed repairs through post-repair testing and quality control inspections
- Maintain shop productivity, efficiency standards, and workflow organization
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and manufacturer service guidelines
- Communicate technical findings clearly to service advisors and customers
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience
- Demonstrated expertise in mechanical engine repair (timing systems, head gaskets, valve train, bottom-end repair, engine rebuilds)
- Advanced diagnostic experience using professional-grade scan tools and lab scopes
- Strong understanding of engine management systems and electronic control modules
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, service data, and technical bulletins
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an automotive repair environment
- ASE Certifications preferred (especially A1–A8, L1 Advanced Engine Performance)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical diagnostic mindset

Pay: Up to $35.00 per hour
