Job Description
iStaffing is currently hiring an experienced Gluer Operator for a well-established packaging company in the City of Industry, CA.
The Gluer Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various gluing machines used to produce high-quality folding cartons. This position will also help direct production team members, maximize productivity, maintain quality standards, and ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, operate, and troubleshoot gluing machines and related equipment.
- Complete machine make-readies, line clearances, first-article inspections, and in-process quality checks.
- Read and understand job tickets and production specifications.
- Monitor carton quality, production counts, case packs, and waste.
- Operate various glue machines, glue extrusion units, and case-packing equipment.
- Feed, pack, and catch cartons as needed.
- Direct and support feeders, catchers, packers, and case stackers.
- Complete final production counts and verify production against the job order.
- Perform operator-level machine repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment inspections.
- Reduce carton waste and rework while maintaining quality standards.
- Weigh waste and accurately document waste and production information on job tickets.
- Complete carton rework or salvage when necessary.
- Maintain clean and organized machines and work areas.
- Follow all safety rules and supervisor instructions.
- Provide feedback to supervision regarding shift activities, production concerns, and equipment issues.
Equipment Experience
Experience with the following equipment is highly desirable:
- Jagenberg Diana
- Bobst Expertfold
- SCM-850
- SCM
- Glue extrusion units
- Case-packing equipment
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience operating gluing/finishing equipment in a folding carton manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience setting up and operating gluing machines producing side seam, auto-bottom, reverse fold, and window cartons.
- Experience working with various substrates, coatings, and laminates, including foil, UV, and aqueous coatings.
- Experience operating glue extrusion units and case packers.
- Experience performing operator-level preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong math, writing, organizational, analytical, and computer skills.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production orders, specifications, and quality standards.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with team members and provide direction to production support personnel.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Ability to train and mentor production team members is preferred.
