This full-time opportunity offers 36 hours per week, full benefits, and a convenient day shift schedule. There is opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested.
We are searching for a sharp-eyed registered nurse to tend to inpatient and outpatient psychiatric cases. A registered nurse should co-create evidence-based protocols, administer prescribed treatment, and report on prominent deviations in patients' symptomology. You should also restrain otherwise uncontrollable patients to protect them.
To ensure success as a registered nurse, you must exercise empathy and resilience. Ultimately, a brilliant psychiatric nurse will continuously hone their psychiatric skillset to bolster their service provision.
Valle Vista Health System is a 132-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful community of Greenwood, IN. Valle Vista Health System features individual units for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Valle Vista Health System. Valle Vista Health System is proud to be a teaching facility that supports local nursing students through our dedicated and tenured nursing team.
We are very proud to offer a Psychiatric Nurse Residency Program for our newly licensed nurses. This program reviews and discusses important concepts integral to patient safety in the behavioral health setting and helps the new nurse understand how to apply nursing knowledge, learn new skills, and think critically. More specifically, this program will assist the newly licensed nurse to transition to a confident professional with knowledge, skills, and competence in the psychiatric behavioral health nursing arena.
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s (NCSBN) has provided evidence that demonstrates this transition program increases new nurse competence, satisfaction and retention and decrease stress and self-reported errors. The course content is evidence-based and aimed at strengthening core competencies considered foundational to Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:
- Current license to practice nursing in IN (or eligible to receive or renew).
- Current CPR or BLS certification
- Three to five years of experience in psychiatric nursing with a minimum of two years of management experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred
We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at a JCAHO accredited facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing psychiatric care to patients in inpatient settings. This includes providing acute care, monitoring patient progress, and developing treatment plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in psychiatry and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care to patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in an acute care, outpatient, or inpatient setting.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
- Perform assessments and evaluations of patient's mental health status.
- Assist with the development of treatment plans and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health issues and available treatments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment plans.
- Comply with JCAHO standards and regulations.
