Speech-Language Pathologist Therapeutic Consultation | AAC | Caregiver Coaching | Hybrid | Virginia
Are you an SLP who loves solving communication challenges beyond the therapy room?
Little Bird Speech LLC is a small, clinician-owned private practice providing speech-language consultative services through Virginia's DD Waiver programs. We believe meaningful communication is built through everyday interactions, not just during therapy sessions.
This is not a traditional direct therapy position.
Instead, you will partner with caregivers, families, support staff, and interdisciplinary teams to help individuals develop meaningful communication skills that support participation, independence, and connection throughout everyday life.
If you enjoy AAC, caregiver coaching, collaboration, and creative problem-solving, we would love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Provide Therapeutic Consultation Speech services to individuals receiving Virginia DD Waiver services.
- Complete communication evaluations and ongoing reassessments.
- Develop individualized communication supports that help caregivers and support teams create meaningful opportunities for communication throughout everyday routines.
- Train caregivers and direct support professionals to implement communication strategies during daily activities.
- Support AAC assessment, implementation, programming, and caregiver training.
- Collaborate with service coordinators, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, physical therapists, day support staff, and families.
- Complete documentation required by Virginia DD Waiver programs.
- Deliver services through a combination of telehealth and community-based visits.
We're Looking for Someone Who...
- Enjoys teaching and coaching caregivers and support teams.
- Believes communication happens throughout everyday life, not just during therapy.
- Has an interest in AAC and alternative communication methods.
- Thinks creatively when solving communication challenges.
- Is organized and able to manage an independent caseload.
- Communicates professionally with families and interdisciplinary teams.
- Enjoys working independently while still being part of a collaborative practice.
- Is eager to continue learning and growing as a clinician.
Experience with AAC or Virginia DD Waiver services is helpful, but not required. We are happy to provide mentorship and support to the right clinician.
