PARAEDUCATOR 2

Seeking Paraprofessional 2 to support primary grades in Terra Linda's SRC (Structured Routines Center)
This staff member will work closely with our SRC staff to create a safe and nurturing environment for all students. Specifically, the daily routines include supporting transitions, physical needs and providing individual and small group instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Compassionate, patient, dedicated and kind
Team player
Prior experience working with elementary-age children in a school or structured learning environment, especially special education or autism-specific classrooms
Experience leading small group instruction, particularly in reading/early literacy/intervention
Experience supervising children during unstructured times (e.g., recess, lunch) with an emphasis on student safety
Skilled at using positive behavior support strategies and maintaining a calm, supportive presence in challenging situations
Able to approach challenges with flexibility and creativity
Proactive and resourceful when addressing student needs or resolving conflicts
Maintains composure under pressure and contributes to a supportive, solution-focused school climate
Purpose:
The Paraeducator 2 assists the Teacher in the delivery of an instructional program, through preparation of the classroom and materials in order to assist individual and small groups of students. The Paraeducator 2 also supports the planning and delivery of behavioral management and living skill development in a variety of school and life situations. The Paraeducator 2 supports and maintains individual student as well as the classroom management while supporting teacher- designed methods and materials with or without direct teacher supervision. This allows the student the opportunity to function autonomously in a school, work, and/or community living environment. The incumbent will provide supervision of student activities in order to ensure that the school maintains a safe and orderly environment.
