Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Attendant/Home Provider in El Paso to support individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to caregiving, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse populations including those with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, and behavioral health needs. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients’ lives through direct support and community engagement.
Duties
- Provide personal care assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Assist clients with transportation to medical appointments, community activities, and educational programs using standard passenger vehicles.
- Support behavioral health needs by implementing behavior management strategies and promoting positive social interactions.
- Collect data on client progress and behaviors to inform care plans and communicate updates effectively with team members.
- Facilitate communication using tools such as American Sign Language when necessary to ensure client understanding and comfort.
- Support clients with developmental disabilities by creating engaging activities tailored to individual interests and abilities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment that promotes client well-being at home and within the community.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health strategies.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred for effective communication.
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and client-centered support approaches.
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for personal transportation assistance.
- Background in home care or community support services for individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective client communication and relationship building.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required or obtainable upon hire.
- Capable of managing data collection accurately to track progress and support documentation efforts.
- Compassionate caregiving mindset with a focus on promoting independence and dignity for clients.
