Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Automotive Glass Technician to join our growing automotive services team in Miami-Dade County.
The Automotive Glass Technician will be responsible for the safe removal, installation, replacement, and repair of automotive glass while following manufacturer procedures, applicable safety standards, and company quality-control requirements.
This position requires strong attention to detail, proper vehicle protection procedures, excellent workmanship, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced automotive environment.
Responsibilities
- Remove and replace automotive windshields, back glass, door glass, quarter glass, and other vehicle glass.
- Inspect vehicles and glass components prior to beginning work.
- Properly remove moldings, trim panels, cowl panels, mirrors, cameras, sensors, and related components as required for glass replacement.
- Prepare pinchwelds and bonding surfaces according to adhesive manufacturer specifications.
- Apply primers, urethane adhesives, and related materials according to manufacturer requirements.
- Install replacement glass using proper positioning, bonding, and sealing procedures.
- Follow required adhesive cure times and Safe Drive Away Time (SDAT) requirements.
- Protect vehicle interiors, exterior finishes, dashboards, trim, and surrounding components during repairs.
- Inspect completed installations for proper fit, sealing, appearance, and workmanship.
- Perform water/leak testing when required.
- Identify vehicles equipped with cameras, sensors, rain sensors, heads-up displays, antennas, heating elements, and other systems incorporated into or affected by the windshield or glass.
- Identify when an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) calibration may be required following windshield replacement and follow company procedures for referral or calibration.
- Document work performed accurately, including vehicle information, glass installed, parts/materials used, and any pre-existing damage.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and assigned work areas or service vehicles in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, manufacturer repair procedures, and applicable federal, Florida, and Miami-Dade County requirements.
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, insurance representatives, dealerships, collision centers, and other business partners when required.
- Perform other automotive-glass-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive glass installation/replacement experience preferred.
- Knowledge of windshield removal and installation procedures, urethane systems, primers, moldings, clips, and related automotive glass materials.
- Familiarity with modern vehicles equipped with ADAS cameras and windshield-mounted sensors preferred.
- Ability to safely operate automotive glass removal and installation tools.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer procedures, technical information, and product instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned jobs efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required for positions involving operation of company vehicles.
- Must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and handling automotive glass and related equipment.
Miami-Dade Technician Registration
Because this position involves performing motor vehicle repair work in Miami-Dade County, the employee must possess or obtain the appropriate Miami-Dade County Motor Vehicle Mechanic/Technician or Apprentice registration/permit applicable to the work being performed, as required by Miami-Dade County regulations.
Candidates who do not currently hold the applicable Miami-Dade County certification/registration may be considered if eligible to obtain the appropriate credential. Employees working under an apprentice classification must perform work under the supervision required by applicable Miami-Dade County regulations.
Continued employment in this position is contingent upon maintaining any licenses, registrations, certifications, or permits required by applicable law for the work being performed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive glass installation experience
- NGA, AGSC, or equivalent automotive glass training/certification
- Experience with OEM and aftermarket automotive glass
- Experience working with vehicles equipped with forward-facing cameras and ADAS systems
- Experience working in dealership, collision repair, automotive glass, or mobile automotive service environments
- Miami-Dade County Motor Vehicle Mechanic/Technician certification or applicable permit
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, position, and install automotive windshields and other vehicle glass.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and heavier or oversized automotive glass with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
- Ability to work with arms extended and/or overhead for periods of time while removing and installing automotive glass and related components.
- Ability to safely enter, exit, and work around vehicles of varying sizes and heights.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, glass removal equipment, suction cups, urethane application equipment, and other automotive glass installation tools.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to safely handle glass, moldings, clips, fasteners, adhesives, and small vehicle components.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements associated with automotive glass removal and installation.
- Ability to visually inspect glass, bonding surfaces, moldings, vehicle components, and completed installations for defects, damage, alignment, and workmanship.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and tolerate typical South Florida working conditions, including heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions when performing mobile services.
- Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as appropriate.

Work Environment
This position may involve work in a shop environment and/or at customer, dealership, collision center, or other mobile service locations.
