At Pipe Dream CNC, we design and build CNC pipe cutting systems with one goal in mind: to make fabrication more efficient, precise, and profitable for the people who do the real work. We're looking for a hands-on Electrical Controls Technician with mechanical assembly experience to join our team.
About the Role
We're hiring an Electrical Controls Technician with at least 3 years of experience reading wiring diagrams and schematics, and assembling, installing, and troubleshooting electrical control wiring and mechanical components. You'll work closely with our production and engineering teams to make sure both the electrical and mechanical builds meet spec, on schedule, every time.
What You'll Do
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Cut, strip, terminate, and route wire and cable per specification
- Assemble wire harnesses, panels, and control boxes
- Install and connect electrical components, switches, relays, and connectors
- Test completed wiring for continuity, proper connections, and function
- Troubleshoot and repair wiring issues as they come up on the shop floor
- Use hand tools, crimpers, and basic test equipment (multimeter, continuity tester)
- Perform mechanical assembly of components, subassemblies, and finished units per drawings and work instructions
- Fit, align, and fasten mechanical parts using hand and power tools (torque wrenches, drivers, etc.)
- Inspect assembled units for fit, function, and adherence to specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow company quality standards and safety procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and production staff to keep jobs on schedule
What You'll Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical wiring, wire harness assembly, or a related field — or equivalent combined experience across electrical and mechanical work (manufacturing/fabrication environment preferred)
- Experience with mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical assembly drawings
- Familiarity with hand tools, wire strippers, crimpers, and basic electrical test equipment
- Familiarity with mechanical assembly tools (torque wrenches, drivers, calipers, etc.)
- Solid understanding of electrical safety practices
- Good attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience in a CNC, machine shop, or fabrication environment
- Vocational/technical training in electrical or electronics
- Experience with schematics for control panels or industrial equipment
Compensation & Schedule
- Wage: $24–$40/hour, based on experience
- Full-time, Monday–Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Overtime available/occasional overtime as needed
- Travel: Up to 10%, as needed for business purposes
