Job Overview
Canfield Engineering & Integration (CEI) is seeking an experienced SCADA Systems Integrator/Architect to take technical ownership of system-level integration on a wide variety of engineering projects. This is a systems-first role: SCADA architecture, telemetry, industrial networking, historian, and OT cybersecurity are the heart of the job. You'll establish how data moves, where it's stored, how it's secured, and how operators see it across municipal water/wastewater, industrial, and mining projects — all in a relaxed office environment with a strong team atmosphere within a business that is very much in growth mode.
We're looking for 5–12 years of progressively responsible system integration experience, with a track record of standing up and securing SCADA systems end to end.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate SCADA systems and databases in accordance with engineering and customer specifications, including RTUs.
- Establish SCADA architecture — server/client design, redundancy, polling strategy, and overall data flow.
- Configure and maintain historians; build trends, reports, and operational dashboards.
- Design and implement industrial networking and communications; ensure connectivity and reliability across SCADA systems.
- Develop and integrate security protocols and OT cybersecurity, including secure remote access.
- Define alarm management philosophy and coordinate SCADA standards across projects.
- Review control system drawings and specifications, and coordinate design specifications with customers to optimize performance and reliability.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Lead system-level startup and commissioning of the control system.
- Create or review O&M documentation for SCADA and related components.
- Support the BD team with estimating, technical approach narratives, and SCADA architecture proposals.
- Mentor integrators and review SCADA deliverables.
- Must be willing to travel as necessary depending on project requirements
Requirements
- 5–12 years of progressively responsible experience designing, configuring, and integrating SCADA systems and databases.
- Strong hands-on experience with one or more SCADA platforms: AVEVA/Wonderware, Ignition, FactoryTalk View SE, or ProLeiT.
- RTU and telemetry integration experience (radio, cellular, fiber).
- Solid command of industrial networking and protocols — Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, DNP3, and OPC UA/DA.
- Historian configuration and data architecture, including trending, reporting, and operational KPIs.
- Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity and secure remote access concepts — network segmentation, firewalls, and VPN.
- Database, reporting, and MES/data integration experience is a strong plus.
- A solid PLC/HMI foundation (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens) so you understand the systems feeding the SCADA layer.
- Experience with industrial applications such as water/wastewater and mining is strongly preferred.
- BSEE or a related degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Able to set standards and exercise system-level judgment with limited oversight
