A physical therapy company is seeking a highly organized, accountable, and detail-oriented Billing Coordinator to manage key components of our revenue cycle operations.
This is an on-site role responsible for insurance verification, authorizations, claim submission, denial management, patient financial communication, and accounts receivable follow-up. The Billing Coordinator will work closely with both on-site staff and a virtual administrative team to ensure billing accuracy, financial performance, and exceptional patient communication.
Compensation will reflect experience, particularly for candidates with proficiency in Tebra Billing Software and/or WebPT EMR.

Core Responsibilities
Revenue Cycle Management
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to services
- Obtain and track insurance authorizations and referrals
- Review documentation to ensure accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Prepare and submit clean claims electronically
- Monitor claim status and proactively follow up on unpaid or denied claims
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or underpayments
- Manage accounts receivable aging and reimbursement timelines
Patient Financial Communication & Collections
- Clearly explain insurance benefits and out-of-pocket responsibilities
- Conduct professional and confident collection calls
- Manage patient payment plans when appropriate
- Address patient billing questions with clarity and composure
- Maintain firm but compassionate financial conversations
Candidates must be comfortable making collection calls and discussing financial responsibilities directly with patients.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other billing coordinators, front desk, and clinical teams
- Coordinate with a virtual billing/administrative team
- Communicate clearly across platforms (email, EHR, task systems)
- Participate in billing meetings and performance reviews
- Support process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- 1+ years of medical billing experience (physical therapy preferred)
- Experience with Tebra Billing Software strongly preferred
- Experience with WebPT EMR is a plus and will be considered in compensation
- Strong understanding of: health insurance benefits
- Accounts receivable management
- Excellent computer proficiency and comfort navigating multiple systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a virtual team
- Comfortable and confident with collections conversations
- Knowledge of HIPAA and billing compliance standards

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

Candidates with Tebra billing experience and WebPT proficiency will be considered at higher compensation levels.
