IRD homes is currently looking to hire an experienced Trim Carpenter.
This employee will be responsible under the supervision of our Construction Superintendent and/or Project Manager for measuring, cutting, and installing various types of trim, molding, and decorative woodwork, including baseboards, door and window casings, mantels, and cabinetry components.
We are a small family-owned company that manages and handles the majority of the build with our own crew. Our ideal teammate for this position would be someone who likes a variety of work, whether interior or exterior, and that can adapt to meet the needs the project requires. This individual needs to be a well-rounded individual who is not just set on one specialized skill set and can adapt to varying conditions.
We are located in Vassar, MI and have serviced all of the Thumb, including the Frankenmuth & Birch Run areas for over 20 years.
Trim Carpenter Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Examine blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Safe operation of hand and power tools, to include (but not limited to) temporary generators, ladders, saws, routers, and sanding equipment.
- Install Cabinets/Trim Installation.
- Install Interior/Exterior Doors & lock sets (and casework).
- Small to mid-size drywall repair.
- Painting, Flooring/Tile, Light plumbing and Electrical
- Window Installation (and casework).
- Light framing and Insulation.
- Demolition.
- Ability to track material inventory and maintain required records/documentation.
- Ability to make recommendations on materials, parts, and equipment.
- Clean work areas, machines, or equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site.
Skills:
- Basic math and convert decimal measurements to feet and inches.
- Follow directions, work accurately and work with close supervision.
- Work quickly with a degree of accuracy.
Trim Carpenter Candidate Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED(preferred).
- Valid Driver’s license (required).
- At least 2 years of relevant construction experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and work environments. Environments include but not limited to the following: high/low temperatures, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, height, indoor/outdoor settings.
- Ability to climb, kneel, bend and crawl often and ability to work on ladders, platforms, and mechanical lifts.
- Ability to work extended hours including overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift upwards of 50 pounds and bend, lift, and stand for extended periods of time.
