The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across agricultural sites. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining programs that protect employees, facilities, and the environment while meeting federal, state, and local requirements.
What You'll Do:

Conduct agricultural site compliance inspections, safety audits, and certification processes.

Deliver toolbox talks, forklift training, and other safety-related training programs.

Manage environmental compliance including FDA regulations, air emissions, and hazardous materials handling.

Oversee fall protection programs, respirator fit testing, and CPR training.

Ensure adherence to Iowa and Illinois Department of Agriculture, EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

Prepare and maintain Tier II reports, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Emergency Action Plans.

Complete required government filings and maintain accurate documentation.

Develop and implement Risk Management Plans for Anhydrous Ammonia.

Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable safety standards and company policies.

What You'll Bring:

Completion of some college coursework, continuing education, or training in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
Relevant work experience in safety, health, engineering, or industrial operations may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Engineering is preferred.
Operations experience desired, preferably in an agriculture-related field.
Basic Computer skills required. Ability to adapt to multiple software programs.
Valid driver’s license required.
Working Conditions:
May be exposed to dust, noise, heat, cold, ag chemicals and vapors, and moving machinery on occasion as part of this position. May be required to work long hours in season, as well as work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
