The Assistant Dietary Manager supports the Dietary Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Dietary Department to ensure residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals. This position helps coordinate food service, supervises dietary staff, and ensures compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations.

Assist in supervising dietary staff, including scheduling, training, and daily oversight

Help ensure meals are prepared and served on time, at the proper temperature, and according to residents’ care plans and physician/dietitian orders

Support menu implementation and quality control of food preparation

Assist in monitoring food and supply inventory, placing orders as needed, and maintaining cost controls

Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are followed in the kitchen and dining areas

Provide support with dietary documentation and reporting as required

Serve as acting manager in the absence of the Dietary Manager

High school diploma or GED required; formal training in food service or nutrition preferred

Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or longterm care setting strongly preferred

Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or Food Protection Professional (CFPP) preferred, but not required
