Checker Bar is hiring a Closing Kitchen Manager!
Checker Bar is looking for a strong, dependable, experienced kitchen leader who can take charge of the line, manage late-night volume, and ensure the kitchen closes clean, organized, and set up for success the next day.
If you lead by example, stay calm under pressure, and know how to run a tight kitchen during high-volume service — we want to meet you.
We’re a high-volume downtown bar and restaurant. Nights get busy. Weekends get wild. The kitchen needs to be dialed in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee the kitchen during closing shifts
- Ensure all food is executed consistently and to spec
- Manage the line during high-volume service while maintaining speed and quality
- Supervise, support, and hold kitchen staff accountable
- Handle nightly closing procedures, including cleaning, breakdown, and prep for the next day
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen at all times
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health standards
- Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and prep lists
- Communicate clearly with front of house and ownership
- Step in wherever needed — line, prep, dishes, or troubleshooting in real time

- Previous kitchen leadership or management experience
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to lead during a rush
- Reliability — showing up on time and ready to lead
- Ability to handle late nights and high-volume weekends
- Team-first mentality with strong communication skills
- Someone who takes ownership of the kitchen and closing process
- Calm, solutions-focused mindset under pressure
Requirements
- 2+ years of kitchen experience (management or leadership preferred)
- ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to stand for long shifts
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
