Meat Cutter Trainee / Retail Butcher

Job Description
Farmers Slaughterhouse is looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team. No prior meat cutting experience is required—we are willing to train the right person who is eager to learn a skilled trade.
This position starts with learning the fundamentals of our operation and provides opportunities to advance into meat cutting as your skills develop. You will work alongside experienced team members while learning the daily operations of a busy retail butcher shop.
Job Duties
Your responsibilities will begin with tasks such as:
- Sorting and organizing inventory
- Stocking retail shelves and displays
- Wrapping and labeling fresh meat products
- Grinding and packaging sausage
- Making hamburger patties
- Learning to safely operate various meat processing equipment
- Assisting with general cleaning and maintaining a sanitary work environment
- Providing friendly, professional customer service in a public-facing retail environment
As you gain experience and demonstrate proficiency, you will be trained to:
- Cut and trim meat using professional knives
- Operate commercial meat slicers
- Safely operate a band saw
- Learn additional meat processing and merchandising skills
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Be available to work Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
- Be able to comfortably and consistently lift 60–80 pounds.
- Be able to stand and work on a concrete surface for 9-hour shifts.
- Be willing to learn how to safely operate machinery, meat slicers, and band saws.
- Be willing to learn a new trade if you have no prior experience.
- Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Be dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
- Be comfortable interacting with customers, as this is a public-facing retail position.
