Qualifications for all positions include the ability to work as a team member within this department AND all other departments, reliable transportation, valid driver’s license with good record, working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions, walking, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, including pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, or lifting up to 50 pounds. The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment. This position requires a broad range of maintenance skills, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical issues.
- Perform general carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and minor construction work.
- Maintain building interiors and exteriors, including grounds and common areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles safely.
- Replace lighting, filters, fixtures, and other building components as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Assist with special projects, renovations, and facility improvements.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors when necessary.
· May be asked to perform other duties in other departments as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of maintenance, facilities, or related experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside normal working hours when required.
Work Environment
- Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Outdoor and indoor work environments.
- May require occasional evening, weekend, or on-call work.
Preferred Skills
- HVAC certification or experience.
