Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments using chairside assisting techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention standards.
- Take digital dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Follow infection control procedures including dental sterilization protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing dental wellness.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, Cerec crown mill, and other clinical tools.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft for accurate documentation of medical records and treatment plans. (will train on-the-job)
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, including sterilization procedures and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining clinical hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication skills for patient management, explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
- Ability to work in a team using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
