Job Summary:
The Laser Programmer and Operator will be responsible for safely the programming, setup, and operation of production and prototype parts on a CNC laser.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Programs, cuts, and inspects production and prototype parts using a CNC controlled laser.
- Safely retrieves and loads material from receiving department.
- Works with Short run, Inspection, and Design personnel to ensure quality parts.
- Adjusts and monitors machine parameters for proper operation.
- Assists with cleaning, maintenance, housekeeping, and other department functions as needed.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Reads and interprets calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have strong Windows PC experience and be able to learn programming.
- Must be able to read and interpret calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.
- Must follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must have good basic math skills.
- Ability to maintain database and written records of completed work, and inspection records.
- Ability to communicate and work with people in office, factory, and inspection.
- Must work well independently and in a team environment.
- MUST be safety oriented.
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Ability to read blueprints and various measuring tools.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in adapting setups.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain correct tolerances and quality specifications.
Education and Experience:
- 1-3 years of work experience or equivalent training preferred
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Must wear safety glasses.
