Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient comfort
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using clear communication
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants, fluoride treatments, and assisting during pediatric dentistry procedures
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Sofdent to document treatment details accurately
- Maintain infection prevention protocols through aseptic techniques, sterilization of equipment, and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care
- Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and other hygiene tools
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) management systems
- Strong understanding of infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards and HIPAA compliance
- Experience providing pediatric dentistry services is highly desirable
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices
