About Metrolina Woodworks
Metrolina Woodworks is a leading provider of custom commercial cabinetry and architectural millwork, based in Stallings, NC and serving the greater Charlotte market. We deliver durable, high-quality, visually striking casework and millwork across medical, corporate office, restaurant, education, and multi-family projects. We take pride in doing the job right. We are — "Built Different" — and we’re looking to grow our team with a skilled and reliable Assistant Commercial Cabinet & Millwork Installer.
Position Summary
We’re looking for a Cabinet & Millwork Installer to support our lead installers on active commercial jobsites, delivering and installing custom cabinetry and other architectural millwork on schedule and to spec. This role works hands-on alongside experienced installers, learning our shop’s install standards while helping bring projects to life in the field.
This is not a lead role. You’ll typically work under a lead installer, but you should be capable of handling smaller tasks or short stretches of a job solo when needed, with minimal supervision. Your craftsmanship, precision, and professionalism will directly impact the final look, function, and quality of every job — and while in the field, you represent Metrolina Woodworks to our clients and GCs.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, transport, and unload cabinetry, casework, and millwork to job sites
- Assist lead installer with staging and installing cabinetry, casework, and millwork per shop drawings
- Install with precision — ensuring all pieces are securely fastened, aligned, and leveled correctly
- Perform on-site adjustments, scribing, fitting, hardware installation, and finish touch-up as needed
- Handle small tasks or short stretches of work independently when a lead isn’t directly present
- Collaborate with project managers, site supers, GCs, and other trades to meet deadlines
- Perform quality checks to ensure work meets Metrolina’s install standards and client expectations
- Wear and use required PPE on every job site, no exceptions
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
- Maintain a professional and respectful presence on client job sites
- Travel to commercial jobsites across the Charlotte metro; occasional overnight travel on an as-needed basis (rare)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in Carpentry, or a related trade
- Commercial installation experience strongly preferred — commercial and residential work are evaluated differently, and commercial experience will be weighted higher
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and architectural details
- Skilled in the use of installation tools; strong understanding of cabinetry installation techniques and anchoring systems
- Must supply own standard hand tools
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work from ladders/scaffolding
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a crew
- Able to work solo on portions of a job without constant direction
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Must speak English well enough to follow instructions, safety directions, and communicate on-site; is a plus
- Takes direction well, listens carefully, and shows strong attention to detail
- Professional demeanor on commercial/active construction sites
Preferred (not required)
- Prior experience with high-end commercial cabinetry and millwork installations
- Familiarity with frameless cabinet installation and casework systems
- Familiarity with laminate, wood veneer, or solid surface materials
- Skilled in adjusting doors, drawers, and specialty hardware; able to troubleshoot fit and alignment issues quickly
- Experience working directly with GCs on active job sites
- OSHA 10/30 certification (not required, but a bonus)
Physical Demands
- Regularly lifting and carrying 50+ lbs
- Standing, kneeling, bending, and working at height (ladders/scaffolding) for extended periods
- Working in active construction environments (dust, noise, varying temperatures)
- Repetitive use of hand and power tools
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay based upon experience and skills
- Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance available
- 401K plan available with a company match
- PTO, Holidays available
- Fuel and pre-approved project expenses are reimbursed
