The Accountant acts as the regulatory anchor and analytical control agent for Liberty Launch Academy's business operations. Rather than managing daily point-of-sale transactions, this individual performs independent verifications, balances bank accounts, maintains the master general ledger, ensures compliance with accounting principles, and formats monthly financial reports for leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Independent Ledger Reconciliation: Perform rigorous bank, credit card, and digital payment gateway reconciliations to verify that bank statements exactly match internal transactional ledgers.
- The Bursar/Bookkeeper Audit Loop: Weekly, independently trace the records, deposits, petty cash vouchers, and accounts payable approvals generated by the Bursar's office to detect human mistakes or systemic variances.
- General Ledger & Journal Entry Management: Own the structure and integrity of the General Ledger, generating end-of-month adjustment entries, depreciation schedules, and wage allocations.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Build accurate monthly cash-flow reports, balance sheets, and budget-vs-actual variance statements for administration and board review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field.
- 3+ years of experience as a corporate or non-profit accountant, with experience in independent bank reconciliation cycles.
- Mastery of general accounting packages (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage, or equivalent school ERP tools) with advanced knowledge of spreadsheets.
Pay: $35.00 - $60.00 per hour
