Company: Innovative Electric & Communications Inc.
Location: Best Buy Store, San Carlos, CA
Type: Full-Time / Project-Based (Potential for Long-Term Work) — Starts Monday, August 17. Immediate openings.
Pay: Competitive, based on experience (DOE)
Job Overview:
Innovative Electric & Communications Inc. is seeking an experienced Fixture Lead to run the fixture crew on a multi-week store reset at the Best Buy location in San Carlos. This is a working lead position. You will direct a crew of fixture installers, own the fixture plan, and be the point of contact for fixture scope with the site lead and the general contractor's project manager. We are looking for a self-motivated lead who can read a fixture plan, hold a crew to a schedule, and produce high-quality work in an occupied retail store.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Read and execute the F1.0 fixture plan, Best Buy Criteria Sets, and before and after merchandising maps to place fixtures correctly.
- Interpret hatching conventions on the plans: double hatch indicates a new fixture being added, single hatch indicates an existing fixture moving without changes.
- Pull the AOR Bound Set of plans from Airtable and confirm which fixtures are reused versus new, along with placement measurements.
- Direct and schedule the fixture crew across the project phases; assign daily tasks and verify completed work.
- Move and right-size existing fixtures to the new mapped layout, including low bay gondolas, HEET walls, and wing walls.
- Save all fixtures, graphics, and VPPs designated for reuse.
- Install new vendor pad fixtures, including LG and Hisense vendor experience walls, following every step of the vendor-specific installation instructions.
- Anchor fixtures per AST guidelines. Ensure all fixtures are level and plumb prior to anchoring, using shims as needed since most floors are not level.
- Coordinate sequencing with other trades: vendor pad fixtures must be anchored FIRST before electrical and low voltage begin their scope.
- Coordinate with the flooring crew on vendor pad dimensions and carpet measurements.
- Complete the parts check-in process on Shift 1 with the Site Lead, verifying fixture, vendor, and IT equipment deliveries against the check-in document in Airtable.
- Plan staging for oversized and odd-shaped pallet deliveries, which can exceed 17 pallets on a vendor pad.
- Assemble and install kitchen set, range, and vendor end caps, and move existing vendor fixtures to new mapped locations.
- Identify and report part shortages, damaged fixtures, or instruction discrepancies to the project manager immediately.
- Complete punch items and required completion photos, and upload documentation to Airtable before leaving the site each day.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of retail fixture installation experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or foreman role.
- Must be able to read planograms, fixture plans, and construction drawings.
- Must have proven experience moving and right-sizing retail fixtures.
- Fixture experience is required or strongly preferred.
- Comfortable operating a scissor lift; must be able to operate a lift safely
- Experience anchoring fixtures to concrete floors, including use of a hammer drill and anchor systems.
- Proficient with a small style hammer drill; newer vendor fixture designs require one.
- Experience with fixture skates, gondola skates, and pallet jacks.
- Ability to lead, schedule, and hold a small crew accountable to a daily production plan.
- Strong attention to detail on level, plumb, and dimensional accuracy.
Requirements:
- Must live in or near the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and your own vehicle.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for a full shift.
- Comfortable working from ladders and lifts.
- Available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional. Job Site Standards - Shift is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch (8 hours). - Check in with the Site Lead each morning and sign in on the project timesheet; check out and sign out before leaving.
