POSITION TITLE: Deconstruction Associate
PURPOSE: The Deconstruction Associate is responsible for assisting with the daily execution of deconstruction (tear down) activities as well as merchandise procurement and store assignments. The position does require some facilities maintenance and upkeep. Possibility of being zoned into one of our four ReStores when deconstruction is not busy. Also, must be able to drive a box truck up to 26 ft.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Must have a minimum of 3-years clean driving record. (No accidents, tickets, license suspensions, lack of insurance, etc)
REPORTS TO: Deconstruction Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in and executes all or part of ReStore operations related to deconstruction, tear outs, material recovery, material transport, customer relations, contractor site requirements and merchandise placement. This position will also be responsible for, when needed, certain skilled tasks at the ReStore to improve merchandising and facility function.
- Will be required to work as an individual as well as part of a team.
- Keeps the Deconstruction Supervisor aware of all deconstruction activities, plans, programs, events, obstacles and material donation status.
- Works with ReStore personnel to develop tool requirements and maintenance for deconstruction use.
- Acts as a Habitat Ambassador at all times.
- Implements, and ensures strict adherence with an OSHA compliant safety program for deconstruction field activities.
- Ensures that all deconstruction operations and related retail activities comply with Affiliate policies and HFHI Covenant.
- Works closely with all existing business partners (contractors, subcontractors, and vendors) and continuously solicits new business partners to ensure best practices and new opportunity.
- Implements and faithfully executes all policies, plans, procedures and directions given by the Deconstruction supervisor, the Director of the ReStores and the VP of retail.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Deconstruction Supervisor and ReStore Managers
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to carefully remove items such as kitchen cabinets and countertops, bathroom cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, and other household or office items maintaining resell condition of product.
- Ability to work weekdays and weekends as needed. Must be available to work Saturdays.
- Effective communication and listening skills both verbal and non-verbal.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office 365 Suite and other assorted programs. Utilize timekeeping apps via personal mobile devices
- Ability to sit stationary or walk and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull and subject to environmental conditions, noise and hazards.
- Worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
- Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Typical retail store settings combined with outside environmental conditions; subject to noise, vibration, hazards and activities occurring inside and outside and often extreme temperatures.
- Limited travel may be required, fast paced environment with medium-high stress based on multiple projects, deadlines, timelines and the need to react quickly and respond quickly.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES :
- Experience in remodeling, home repair and or deconstruction.
- Great Customer Service skills

- Strong aptitude to work in a team environment and to ability to follow directions as well as give directions to volunteers as needed.
REQUIRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must meet Affiliate’s driver guidelines for insurability. Must have a minimum of 3-year clean driving record. (No accidents, tickets, license suspensions, lack of insurance, etc)
