We are seeking an experienced Industrial Paint Department Manager to lead and oversee daily operations within our paint and blast departments. This role is responsible for managing a team of 5–10 employees, ensuring high-quality finishes, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and driving efficiency across all paint processes. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills combined with hands-on technical expertise in industrial paint application.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and develop a paint crew of 5–10 employees
- Plan and coordinate daily workflow to meet production schedules and quality standards
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for various application methods
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of paint equipment
- Monitor quality, consistency, and adherence to customer and specification requirements
- Enforce all safety, environmental, and compliance standards (OSHA, PPE, material handling)
- Train employees on best practices, application techniques, and process improvements
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and management teams
- Track department performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing or supervising an industrial paint department or crew of 5+ employees
- Strong working knowledge of industrial coating systems and surface preparation
- Demonstrated technical experience with:
- Airless paint application
- HVLP (High Volume, Low Pressure) systems
- Electrostatic paint processes
- Ability to read and interpret paint specifications, technical data sheets, and work instructions
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and production efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing paint operations
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Familiarity with VOC regulations and environmental compliance
- Forklift and/or respirator certification (or ability to obtain)
