We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our Valve Department in Aston, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with 10+ years of hands-on experience who is comfortable setting up and operating manual equipment and working with industrial valve components.
The Manual Machinist will be responsible for setting up and machining valve components, manufacturing parts for line valves, and producing transition plates used with valve actuators. This position requires strong attention to detail, precision machining skills, and the ability to work independently from setup through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual machine tools to manufacture valve components.
- Machine parts for line valves and transition plates for valve actuators.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machining specifications.
- Perform manual turning, milling, threading, and other machining operations.
- Set up and operate engine lathes, vertical turning centers, and Bridgeports.
- Machine Acme threads, typically double-lead, 4 TPI, including stem nuts.
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting tools based on the material and machining operation.
- Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Make adjustments throughout the machining process to maintain quality and specifications.
- Work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Assist with other machining and manufacturing projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of manual machining experience.
- Strong experience setting up and operating engine lathes.
- Experience with vertical turning centers and Bridgeports.
- Strong understanding of manual turning, milling, and threading operations.
- Experience cutting Acme threads; double-lead, 4 TPI experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Ability to independently determine appropriate setups, tooling, and machining processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Experience machining industrial, valve, or large components is a plus.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM.
