Custodian/Cleaner
New London Local Schools is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as a 2nd Shift Custodian/Cleaner. This position plays an important role in providing students, staff, families, and visitors with a clean, safe, well-maintained, and welcoming school environment.
Primary Responsibilities
The Custodian/Cleaner will perform a variety of custodial and light maintenance duties, including:

Cleaning and maintaining classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other district facilities

Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, and waxing floors

Emptying trash and replenishing restroom and custodial supplies
-
Cleaning and maintaining custodial equipment
-
Setting up and moving furniture and equipment for school activities and events
-
Performing minor building and equipment repairs
-
Assisting with snow and ice removal and routine groundskeeping
-
Helping receive, unload, store, and distribute supplies and materials
-
Identifying and reporting maintenance, safety, and repair needs
-
Opening and/or securing district facilities as assigned
-
Supporting summer cleaning and building preparation

Following district safety procedures and applicable workplace safety requirements

Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Applicants must:

Be at least 18 years of age for full-time employment
-
Possess a valid driver's license
-
Be dependable, conscientious, and willing to assume responsibility

Demonstrate a positive attitude toward education and working in a school environment

Have the ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and the public
-
Maintain a strong attendance record
-
Successfully complete required criminal background checks
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. Applicants must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, carrying, and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions. The position requires the ability to move and lift at least 50 pounds and safely operate custodial and maintenance equipment.
