REQUIRED: a Valid California Education Specialist or Single Subject Physical Education Teaching Credential with a California Adapted Physical Education (APE) Added Authorization
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Adaptive Physical Education Service Provider to join our team! In this vital role, you will deliver specialized physical education services tailored to students with diverse needs, promoting inclusivity, physical development, and confidence. Duties
- Develop and implement individualized adaptive physical education plans aligned with each student’s unique abilities and goals
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ motor skills, fitness levels, and progress over time
- Lead engaging, safe, and inclusive physical activities that accommodate various disabilities and skill levels
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and support staff to ensure cohesive program delivery
- Adapt equipment, exercises, and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
- Monitor student safety during activities, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols
- Document student progress, activity participation, and any incidents accurately in records and reports
Experience
- Prior experience in adaptive or inclusive physical education or related fields is highly preferred
- Knowledge of various disabilities and how they impact motor skills and physical activity participation
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Ability to modify activities creatively to ensure all students can participate meaningfully
- Certification in adapted physical education or related credentials is a plus but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided if needed
