Office: Christian County Treasurer’s Office
Position: Full Time Deputy Treasurer-AFSCME Position
Starting Salary: $17.50 per hour/$31,850.00 annually
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM with one-hour lunch
Position Summary:
The Christian County Treasurer’s Office is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Full-Time Deputy Treasurer. This position requires strong organizational skills, financial aptitude, and the ability to interact professionally with the public.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficiency in operating standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, copiers, cash drawers, and calculators
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Excellent customer service and telephone communication skills
- Knowledge of the property tax cycle and public fund collection processes preferred
- Ability to work effectively with the public on a daily basis
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain financial records in accordance with state laws and required retention schedules
- Manage and reconcile over 23 checking accounts with combined balances exceeding $6 million
- Receive and process funds from elected officials and department heads
- Assist in managing and balancing approximately $3.8 million in county assets and support investment activities to maximize interest earnings
- Balance claims and maintain accurate records of all receipts and disbursements
- Reconcile inter-fund accounts, including General Fund and Trust accounts (serving multiple offices)
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to county offices and the County Board
- Perform additional duties as assigned
