Job Summary
As a Senior Software Engineer focused on web development, you’ll provide hands-on technical leadership while designing, building, and scaling secure, accessible, high-performance digital investing experiences for high-profile clients in the financial industry. You’ll lead the delivery of modern web applications using front-end frameworks such as React and Vue, service tiers such as C# .NET and Node.js, REST APIs, and diverse SQL backends. You’ll guide architecture and implementation decisions, translate product and client requirements into maintainable solutions, lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and raise standards for quality, testing, performance, observability, and delivery. As part of Communify, you’ll work in a small, closely-knit team and collaborate with clients, product partners, designers, and engineers to deliver complete web solutions that are secure, performant, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of scalable web applications and digital client experiences
- Provide technical leadership for complex initiatives, guiding architecture, implementation, and technology decisions from discovery through production support
- Lead technical design reviews and code reviews to ensure quality, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Mentor engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and guidance on engineering best practices
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, designers, quality assurance teams, operations teams, clients, and other stakeholders to deliver business value
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs and recommend solutions that account for scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Build and maintain modern web applications, APIs, and supporting services using technologies such as React, Vue, Node.js, and .NET
- Monitor application performance and participate in troubleshooting and resolving production issues
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and advocate for improvements to engineering processes, tools, and standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of software development experience, including demonstrated technical leadership in the design and delivery of production web applications
- Advanced expertise in modern web development, including JavaScript ES6+, HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, browser compatibility, and web accessibility
- Deep experience with one or more modern front-end frameworks, such as React or Vue, with component-based user-interface architecture
- Experience building and integrating web services using Node.js, Express, REST APIs, Swagger, or OpenAPI; experience with C# .NET is an asset
- Strong understanding of client-side performance, security, authentication, caching, testing, and observability for high-traffic web applications
- Expertise in modern source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and reliable release practices
- Experience working in an Agile or Lean development environment and delivering effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Ability and flexibility to participate in on-call production incident escalation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing front-end platforms, reusable component libraries, design systems, or micro-frontend architectures
- Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS or Azure and with content delivery, caching, or edge services
- Experience with DevOps and observability tools such as Python, Jenkins, Nomad, Consul, Rundeck, Chef, Nexus, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or Sentry
- Experience with the Atlassian stack, including Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming and design, design patterns, SOLID principles, and scalable distributed-system concepts
- Experience in financial services related to Wealth Management, Asset Management, Advised Investing, or Direct Investing
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 annualized
