American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float ICU/PCU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and comfort working across all ICU and PCU units.

13-week contract at a 703-bed acute care Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric)
-
Float position covering all ICU and PCU units — candidates must be comfortable working any unit

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning travelers may float 2–3 times per shift
-
ICU patient ratio: 2:1 | PCU patient ratio: 5:1

Epic EMR experience required
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
-
One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
-
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period

Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience preferred
-
Experience at a large Level I or Level II facility required

Proficiency in IV therapy: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation & maintenance
-
Respiratory support experience: BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilated patient care
-
Medication administration skills: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac & vasoactive drips
-
Wound care experience: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
-
Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Experience with IV insulin protocol adherence

Two professional references required for consideration

Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients, affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
