Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs activities involved in the process of planting, growing, maintaining and harvesting shellfish. Duties are those listed in this description and as assigned by a supervisor or crew leader.

Rigs net and drag it over bed to protect shellfish from predators

Pulling and stomping tubes

Cleaning tubes and nets
-
Sorting and carrying bags of tubes

Pulling nets, loading nets and tubes and other tools on and off barges
-
Maintenance of grounds using a tractor, rake, squeegee or other tools

Communicating with Co-workers and supervisors
Physical Requirements:
This position requires performance of the following tasks repetitively:

Manipulation of bags, shovels, squeegees, lifting, bins, rakes, writing implements, containers of shellfish, bags of tubes, portions of netting and other tools

Balance when pushing tube into sand, and entering or disembarking from vessels and vehicles
-
Ride in a boat without being sea sick or affected by vibrations

Occasional manipulation of heavier weights up to 50 lbs. and reaching overhead

Manipulating bags of tubes, crates of shellfish, clean nets and fowled nets
-
Lifting overhead to floats and barges
-
Bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling
-
Standing, walking, bending and stooping
-
Reaching from ground to waist and from shoulder level to waist

Whole hand grasping of shovel, rakes, tubes, nets, and etcetera
-
Look, listen, and learn to avoid hazards and perform the job to the highest standard
Variable Hour, available to work all days of the week.
