RETAIL Regional Underwriting Manager
Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience (required).
- At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience in a mortgage underwriting environment (required).
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage regional operations effectively.
Breadth of Skills
- Solid understanding of conventional loan products; foundational knowledge of government and non-agency products.
- Experience with standard underwriting tools, systems, and workflow management.
- Ability to handle escalations and coach team members on routine underwriting decisions.
Depth of Product Knowledge
- Experience in Non-QM, Home Equity, and Second Mortgage products (required).
- Working knowledge of conforming and government-backed lending programs (FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
Proven Job Performance
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding underwriting performance metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain pipeline efficiency and decision accuracy within established benchmarks.
Leadership Effectiveness
- Capable of leading a regional underwriting team with foundational coaching and feedback skills.
- Developing ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations and Sales leadership.
- Actively participates in team development and performance management. conventional, government, and non-agency loan products.
- Proven ability to manage complex escalations, regulatory audits, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience developing and implementing process improvements and underwriting policy changes.
