HVAC Controls Installer / Building Automation Systems Installer
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated HVAC Controls Installer to join our Building Automation Systems team. This role is ideal for candidates with a commercial HVAC or electrical background who want to develop a career in building automation and controls. The successful candidate will install, wire, test, and commission HVAC control systems in commercial and institutional buildings while receiving training on BAS platforms and DDC controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Install low-voltage control wiring, sensors, controllers, actuators, thermostats, and control panels
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Install and terminate BAS field devices in accordance with project specifications
- Perform point-to-point checkout, startup, and commissioning of control systems
- Troubleshoot wiring and control device issues during installation
- Coordinate with electricians, HVAC technicians, project managers, and general contractors
- Complete installation documentation, redline drawings, and daily work reports
- Follow all OSHA safety requirements and company safety procedures
- Learn Building Automation Systems, BACnet communications, and DDC programming through on-the-job training
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial HVAC installation, service, or electrical work preferred
- Ability to read electrical drawings and use electrical test instruments
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and control circuits is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel to customer job sites
- Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in commercial construction environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial HVAC equipment such as AHUs, RTUs, VAV boxes, boilers, or chillers
- Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, or Niagara
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or other building automation communication protocols
- Previous controls installation or commissioning experience
Pay: $32.00 - $48.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
