We are seeking motivated petition signature collectors to help gather signatures for an active petition campaign in Washington, D.C. This is a temporary, flexible opportunity for individuals who are comfortable speaking with the public, working independently, and helping build support in the community.
Responsibilities
- Approach individuals in various outdoor settings to request signatures for designated initiatives or campaigns
- Conduct face-to-face conversations using persuasive communication techniques to motivate participation
- Utilize mobile devices to record signatures accurately and manage data collection in real-time
- Engage with community members through door-to-door canvassing and outdoor outreach efforts
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while representing the organization’s mission and goals
- Negotiate with potential signers to address questions or concerns effectively
- Track progress and report daily signature collection metrics to supervisors
Petition signature collectors will be responsible for:
- Collecting petition signatures from registered D.C. voters
- Clearly explaining the purpose of the petition to members of the public
- Ensuring petition forms are completed accurately and legibly
- Following all campaign instructions and applicable petition circulation rules
- Protecting and properly returning all petition materials
- Submitting completed petition sheets by the required deadline.
Experience
- Prior field sales or canvassing experience, preferably in outdoor or community settings
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently in person
- Experience in fundraising, community engagement, or door-to-door outreach is highly desirable
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, enabling engagement with diverse populations
- Demonstrated success in outdoor work environments requiring walking and active mobility
- Knowledge of telemarketing or promotional activities is beneficial but not required
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
Ideal candidates are:

- Committed to collecting accurate and complete signatures from registered D.C. voters
- Available to participate in a short onboarding or training before beginning work.
Compensation
Collectors will be paid $5 per complete signature collected from a registered D.C. voter and accepted by the campaign for submission, with a maximum payout of $17,500 for 3,500 signatures.
Signatures may be turned in on a rolling basis. Payment will be disbursed within 24 hours after signatures are turned in and reviewed by the campaign.
Work Schedule
This is a flexible, temporary opportunity. Collectors may work at their own pace and may collect signatures solo or with a group. There is no set schedule, and collectors are responsible for managing their own time, locations, and outreach approach.
Deadline
The final day to turn in signatures for payment is August 3, 2026. Signatures submitted after this deadline will not be eligible for payment.
