Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all instruments are ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including general dentistry and prosthodontics.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records using Dentrix, and recording vital signs to monitor patient health status.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to dental terminology or procedures to enhance their understanding and comfort.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, or prosthodontics.
- Hands-on knowledge of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization equipment, and other clinical devices.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such Dentrix for scheduling, medical records management, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of terminology related to dentistry and healthcare infection control policies.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently while maintaining a focus on patient comfort.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and collaboration within the dental team.
